Position Type: Contract

Duration: 12 month contract - Initial contract will run from now until end of December with the plan for extension into 2027

Work Model: Hybrid (Downtown Toronto) - 3 days per week in office

About the Engagement

Akkodis is partnering with a leading Canadian institutional investment organization to engage a Senior Business Analyst with deep Market Risk and Investment Management experience.

This role is ideal for a seasoned Business Analyst who combines strong business analysis capabilities with a solid understanding of risk management, investment products, and data-driven technology solutions. The successful consultant will work closely with Risk Management, Investment, Product Engineering, and Technology teams to support the delivery and enhancement of risk platforms, analytics, and reporting capabilities.

You will play a critical role in translating business objectives into functional requirements, facilitating solution design discussions, supporting risk model implementations, and ensuring successful delivery of technology initiatives within a complex investment management environment.

Services to be Provided:

- Engage business stakeholders to elicit, analyze, document, and validate business requirements and objectives.
- Develop high-quality business analysis deliverables including business requirements, functional specifications, process maps, workflows, and future-state designs.
- Collaborate with business, technology, and product teams to ensure delivered solutions align with business objectives and provide measurable value.
- Document and analyze data flows, data lineage, and data transformations across risk and enterprise data platforms.
- Support risk management technology initiatives, risk analytics enhancements, and risk model implementations.
- Facilitate requirements traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead or support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including test planning, test case review, execution oversight, and stakeholder sign-off.
- Partner with Development and QA teams to ensure accurate interpretation and validation of business requirements.
- Work within Agile delivery teams to define user stories, acceptance criteria, backlog items,



and release deliverables.
- Contribute to project initiation activities including scope definition, estimation, work planning, and stakeholder alignment.
- Identify and communicate project risks, issues, dependencies, and mitigation strategies.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across product and delivery teams.
- 6+ years of experience as a Senior Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Product Owner, Risk Analyst, or Business Consultant.
- Strong experience supporting Market Risk, Risk Management, Capital Markets, Investment Management, or Asset Management initiatives.
- Experience gathering and documenting business and functional requirements within complex enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of risk measurement methodologies including Value-at-Risk (VaR), Stress Testing, Sensitivity Analysis, and Option Greeks.
- Experience working with risk analytics, risk reporting, risk technology platforms, or risk model implementations.
- Knowledge of institutional investment products including Equities, Fixed Income, ETFs, Derivatives, Futures, Options, Swaps, and Alternative Investments.
- Experience with SQL-based data analysis and data validation activities.
- Exposure to technologies such as SQL Server, PL/SQL, Snowflake, Python, Power Pivot, Jira, and Visio.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage business, technology, and executive stakeholders.
- Experience working within Agile, Scrum, and/or Waterfall delivery methodologies.

Demonstrated Experience with 2 or More of the following:

- Market Risk Platforms and Risk Analytics Solutions
- Value-at-Risk (VaR) and Stress Testing Frameworks
- Investment Management or Asset Management Technology
- Risk Data Management, Data Lineage, and Data Governance
- Requirements Traceability and Impact Analysis
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Leadership
- Agile Product Delivery and User Story Development




- Process Mapping, Business Process Improvement, and Workflow Design
- Data Warehousing and Reporting Solutions
- Financial Modeling or Quantitative Risk Initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

- University degree in Finance, Business, Financial Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- CFA, FRM, CBAP, MBA, or equivalent professional designation.
- Experience supporting pension funds, asset managers, investment firms, or capital markets organizations.
- Hands‑on experience with Snowflake, Python, SQL, or modern data platforms.
- Experience collaborating with Product Engineering, Data Engineering, and Risk Analytics teams.
- Knowledge of Liquidity Risk, Credit Risk, and Enterprise Risk disciplines.
- Experience leveraging AI‑enabled tools and automation to improve delivery efficiency and analytics.
