Employment Type: Part-Time, approximately 20 hours per week
Hourly Rate: $28.85–$36.05 per hour

This is a part-time prospect well suited to an experienced payroll professional looking for flexibility while still taking ownership of a key business function. You will work closely with Finance, HR, and branch leaders across Western Canada, supporting payroll for approximately 300 employees across multiple locations.

The position will average approximately 20 hours per week, with flexibility in how those hours are scheduled based on payroll deadlines and business needs.

This is a part‑time hourly position with an expected rate of $28.85 to $36.05 per hour , based on experience and qualifications.

The position will average approximately 20 hours per week , with flexibility in how those hours are scheduled based on the needs of the bi‑weekly payroll cycle.

Please note that benefits are not included with this part‑time position.

What You’ll Do





Process full‑cycle bi‑weekly payroll for approximately 300 employees across multiple Western Canada branches

Ensure accurate calculation of regular wages, overtime, stat pay, vacation pay, commissions, bonuses, shift premiums, and other earnings

Administer benefit deductions, RRSP contributions, garnishments, and non‑routine earnings or adjustments

Maintain accurate payroll records in compliance with provincial and federal legislation

Manage apprenticeship leaves, school leaves, and other leaves of absence for trades employees

Reconcile payroll reports and related general ledger entries

Prepare and submit Records of Employment

Support year‑end reporting including T4 preparation and reconciliations

Conduct bi‑weekly payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance

Respond to payroll inquiries from employees and managers in a professional and timely manner

Partner with HR and branch leadership to ensure accurate employee data, compensation changes, and policy interpretation

Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, efficiency, and accuracy

Support occasional accounting tasks including reconciliations and journal entries

What We’re Looking For

5+ years of full‑cycle payroll experience, ideally within an organization of 300+ employees

Qualified Payroll Certification such as PCP, CPM, or equivalent

Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and employment standards

Experience processing payroll across multiple branches or provinces preferred

Strong Microsoft Excel skills for analysis and reconciliation

High attention to detail and accuracy





Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and meet strict bi‑weekly deadlines

Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with employees and leaders

Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion

Flexibility to adjust working hours around payroll deadlines and peak processing periods

This position is based in Calgary, Alberta and will average approximately 20 hours per week . Working hours will be flexible based on the requirements of the payroll cycle and business needs.
