This temporary position as a Sr Environmental Health & Safety Specialist / RSO will be responsible for radiation safety and compliance with respect to both staff and the facility. Key duties include: Administering various aspects of the radiation safety program Providing training on radiation safety to employees Conducting RSO assessments and calculations
Key Responsibilities Administering various aspects of the radiation safety program
Providing training on radiation safety to employees
Conducting RSO assessments and calculations
Administer personnel and environmental dosimetry programs
Provide various radiation safety trainings to employees
Assess impacts and provide guidance on radiation safety matters and best practices for work planning, key projects, monitoring results, and incidents.
Preform standard radiation safety assessments, such as skin dose calculations, dose estimation, etc.
Prepared updates to radiation safety documents
Prepare regulatory submissions and responses to the CNSC
Other duties as may be required
Qualifications University graduate in appropriate engineering or science discipline (e.g. physics).
3+ years of experience as a Radiation Safety Officer.
Skills and Competencies Valuable knowledge of radiation protection principles and skills.
Working knowledge on the use of different types of radiation detection equipment.
In-depth understanding of the CNSC regulations (radiation protection, Class 1B, Class II, Nuclear Substance and Device, etc) and ability to implement regulatory requirements.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills are essential for communications at all levels both internally and externally with customers and regulatory agencies.
Excellent presentation skills are required for delivery of training.
Excellent people skills.
Training Required Must complete all required training and certification as a Nuclear Energy Worker.
Security Backcheck clearance is a requirement.
