Empower First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students as a Social Worker in the First Peoples' House at the University of Alberta. This in-person role emphasizes cultural safety and relationship-based support.

In this position, you will work closely with FNMI students to help navigate various challenges, from mental health issues to academic pressures. By utilizing culturally grounded practices, you will provide essential support that is trauma-informed and responsive to the unique needs of the community. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team ensures comprehensive care aligned with First Peoples' House values.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assess mental health and wellness of FNMI students
• Intervene in crises with culturally responsive techniques




• Coordinate individualized care plans and referrals
• Advocate against systemic barriers impacting students
• Engage with community practices and wellness strategies

Requirements:
• Expertise in trauma-informed social work methods
• Deep understanding of FNMI histories and cultures
• Skilled in collaboration within interdisciplinary teams
• Robust advocacy and communication competencies
• Commitment to supporting students’ self-determination
