Help transform lives as an Overnight Shelter Support Staff at Siloam Mission in Winnipeg. This role focuses on providing direct support using trauma-informed practices and ensuring safety overnight.
In this essential position, you'll work twelve-hour shifts, directly assisting individuals in our emergency shelter. You will deliver support to community members facing homelessness, promote their safety, and maintain a welcoming setting. Key skills include understanding mental health needs, cultural awareness, and effective communication.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct support to shelter community members
• Ensure the safety of all individuals in the shelter
• Prepare and complete incident reports and daily logs
• Assist individuals with their immediate needs and questions
• Conduct general housekeeping duties for cleanliness
Requirements:
• Post-secondary diploma in social services or equivalent experience
• Minimum 1 year of experience with marginalized populations
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and harm reduction
• Certifications in First Aid and Mental Health First Aid preferred
• Ability to respond to emergency situations with calmness
