Job Description The City of Port Moody has a regular, full-time prospect for a Bylaw & Licensing Assistant to join our team! The Bylaw & Licensing Assistant oversees licensing operations, supports Bylaw functions, and provides front line customer service for Community Development by responding to public enquiries and requests at the service counter and through phone, email, and other means. This position also provides general administrative assistance to the department, coverage for the Planning and Building Assistants, and supports economic development.
Responsibilities:
Serves as the main point of contact for licensing and responds to customer requests and processes business, mobile food truck, dog, secondary suite and residential rental unit licence applications, renewals and reminders;
Processes and administers Sidewalk Use Permits and Sounds Level Exemptions;
Compiles licensing data for annual reporting and conducts research in support of economic development and other department needs;
Maintains the business directory, supports edits of relevant web pages, and provides myPortMoody registration assistance;
Coordinates and supports special event permitting and licensing
Coordinates the Municipal Ticketing program and related document preparation and data entry;




Handles cash and processes payments through point-of-sale, cash, and e-transfers; and
Provides general administrative support to the Bylaw division and coverage and assistance for other Community Development divisions as required.
BasicQualifications: Completion of Grade 12;
Minimum one year of related experience in a municipal or bylaw enforcement environment;
Completion of a conflict resolution course would be an asset;
Bylaw Level I would be an asset;
Knowledge of the applicable municipal bylaws, regulations and planning procedures;
Knowledge of the practices and procedures of other departments (Building, Engineering and Planning);
Computer and software skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook;
Experience with Tempest, a Municipal record management system;
Research experience;
Cash handling experience;
Ability to create informational materials;
Ability to deal with challenging customer situations;
Ability to work under pressure and timelines;
Excellent customer service and communication skills; and
Excellent documentation, record keeping and filing skills.
