Role Overview
The Shop Foreman plays a key leadership role within the Alberta AG Centre Service Department. This position is responsible for overseeing daily shop operations, supporting and guiding service technicians, and ensuring safe, efficient shop performance. The role requires strong technical knowledge, leadership ability, and the capacity to manage a fast-paced agricultural dealership shop environment.

Core Responsibilities

Oversee daily shop operations and supervise service department personnel

Assign and prioritize work to technicians based on skill level, workload, and urgency

Review completed work for quality and technical accuracy

Serve as point of escalation for technicians on complex diagnostic or repair issues

Coordinate scheduling and workflow across the shop; liaise with other locations and departments as needed

Process technician timecards for payroll

Work with the Service Manager on all people issues, including ongoing performance management for service staff, regular mentorship, coaching and feedback, KPI tracking, culminating in a formal annual performance review

Maintain a clean, safe, organized shop environment

Serve as the on-site safety authority in accordance with the company OHS Program

Technical Leadership & Shop Resources

Mentor technicians, including apprentices, on diagnostic and repair procedures

Support delivery of technical training and certification requirements

Support the management of shop tooling and equipment in conjunction with the Service Manager, ensuring proper maintenance, calibration, and availability

Coordinate with the parts department on parts availability for scheduled and in-progress work

Technical Duties & Physical Requirements

Perform hands-on inspections, repairs, diagnostics, maintenance, part replacements, and equipment updates alongside supervisory duties

Ability to travel,



including driving for extended periods in all seasons and weather conditions

Ability to walk, stand, and move through shop environments for extended periods wearing PPE

Ability to climb on and around equipment to conduct quality control checks and inspections

Ability to occasionally lift, carry, or move tools, parts, or materials up to 50 lbs

Ability to sit for extended periods while driving or working at a desk/computer

Ability to occasionally perform hands-on diagnostic, repair, or inspection work in a shop setting

Visual acuity sufficient to assess equipment condition and identify quality or safety issues during inspections

Customer Relations

Communicate with customersregardingservice needs, estimates, and payments

Answer phones, greetwalk-in-customers, and support general office operations

Completeequipment trafficking between locations and customer sites

Support planning of location-specific company events

All other duties as assigned; this list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties as management deems necessary from time to time.

Competencies & Qualifications

Agricultural Equipment Technician certification (or equivalent trade ticket), or significant equivalent hands-on service/mechanical experience in agricultural or heavy equipment

Strong agricultural equipment knowledge, with previous dealership experience considered an asset

Previous leadership experience considered an asset with the ability to manage or coach people

Positive team attitude, strong work ethic with excellent communication and interpersonal skills,



with the ability to build trust

Strong organizational and time-management skills

Solid understanding of safety standards and practices in a shop/field environment.

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office; CDK IntelliDealer experience considered an asset

Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly between locations; forklift experience considered an asset
