The District of Summerland is recruiting 2-3 casual Lifeguard / Instructor I’s to join our aquatics team. These roles provide lifeguarding and aquatic instruction at the Summerland Aquatic & Fitness Centre. Interested applicants should enjoy working with the public, can adapt to a dynamic work environment, and have flexible availability. All required certifications must be current, and copies of certifications will be requested.

The ideal candidates will be dependable, motivated, team-players with a positive attitude and excellent communication and customer service skills. They must also be a robust swimmer, in excellent physical condition and have the ability to effectively control large groups of people of all ages.

To stay current in procedures, equipment and lifeguarding,



the successful candidates will be available for a minimum of 25 hours for each 6-month period (January – June and July – December).

The shift schedule is varied and may include hours between 5:45am – 10:00pm weekdays and 8:15am through 7:30pm on weekends. This is a union position (CUPE 1136), and the hourly wage is $32.13 plus 15% in lieu of benefits for a total hourly wage of $36.95.
