Enhance student success at Fort Rupert Elementary School as a First Nation Support Worker, specializing in Kwakwaka’wakw culture and language. This contract role enables you to work closely with students and teachers in a dynamic educational setting.
Working 26 hours each week, your mission will be to facilitate cultural learning while supporting academic endeavors. You'll collaborate with educators to develop appropriate learning materials and coordinate cultural enrichment opportunities. Building positive relationships with students, families, and the community is essential for this fulfilling role.
Key Responsibilities:
• Foster appreciation for Kwakwaka’wakw language and culture
• Create and present educational content with teachers
• Organize cultural events with local knowledge keepers
• Provide support for individual and group learning
• Keep accurate records for Indigenous program data
Requirements:
• Secondary school graduation required
• One year of related post-secondary education
• Extensive knowledge of Kwakwaka’wakw language and traditions
• Experience working with First Nations students a plus
• Robust organizational and communication skills
