Join Tropicana Community Services as a Peer Support Worker, providing critical support to youth involved with the criminal justice system in the Greater Toronto Area. This part-time position focuses on relationship-building and mentoring youth aged 12-29.
You will engage with youth facing high-risk circumstances, utilizing your personal experiences to connect and foster meaningful relationships. Providing one-on-one mentoring, you will support youth in their reintegration journey, helping them navigate education and employment opportunities while overcoming challenges related to gang involvement and theft.
Key Responsibilities:
• Build relationships through shared lived experiences
• Provide mentorship and support for youth reintegration
• Model positive pathways away from harmful activities
• Assist with life skills development and goal setting
• Manage crises effectively, involving Social Worker if necessary
Requirements:
• Understanding of youth justice and gang issues
• Awareness of social media trends affecting youth
• Strong community presence and engagement skills
• Positive judgment in sensitive situations
• Flexible evening availability preferred
