Job Description: Department View The Enterprise Real Estate (ERE) business provides support to the entire Bank’s operating space from Branches and Stores to all the office space across North America. The ERE Finance team (within COO) is responsible for providing financial support, analysis, reporting, guidance and strategic advice and decision support to Real Estate management as follows: Own and deliver detailed, innovative, and accurate reporting on actual performance; deep dives into current performance, well-managed forecasts along with recommendations for needed action Own and deliver financial management materials, support analyses for business cases or strategy discussions, continuously enhance reporting and provide strategic insights and advice Ensure financial controls (policy, attestations, accruals, PCAs) are in place to provide a well-managed and accurate P&L; Ensure segment allocations are fair, communicated clearly, reviewed periodically, and adjusted when needed.
Job details: Reporting to the Senior Manager Finance, this position is responsible for taking a significant role in the Canadian Corporate Real Estate portfolio performance and expense management functions. This position requires someone with excellent analytical and technical skills who has the ability to recognize issues and take practical corrective action. Proven skills in handling multiple tasks and working within specified timelines are required. The candidate must possess excellent business acumen and be able to develop positive working relationships with the areas supported.
Specific responsibilities Perform monthly analysis and reporting of expenses for Canadian Corporate Real Estate portfolio. Includes both P&L; and capital spend.
Support preparation of expense reporting packages including slide decks, dashboards, flash reports and ad-hoc analysis as required.
Take a proactive role in the quarterly expense forecasting and annual planning processes.
Coordinate with various stakeholders and ensure a robust forecast and plan is built up, reviewed and agreed upon with the business.
Develop and maintain solid and effective working relationship with Business Partners, Segment Finance, FinOps, Enterprise Decision Support and other stakeholders.
Be pro-active in seeking areas for process improvements/automations to streamline overall workflow of finance processes taking full advantage latest AI tools.
Demonstrate questioning mindset and proactively investigate variances from expected results and assist in timely resolution of issues and elevate any issues, if required, to the Senior Manager and AVP as needed.
Gain a thorough understanding of the portfolio; identify and understand risks and challenges and make value-added recommendations and advice.
Gain thorough knowledge of the systems used for expense reporting and analysis, identify and implement process improvements that will result in increased effectiveness.
Job Requirements Undergraduate degree Accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA or CGA) preferred.
Have a good understanding of accounting principles and standards, including IFRS.
Working experience with Lease accounting is an asset.
3+ years in Finance/Management Reporting experience including planning, forecasting and variance analysis.
Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with business partners.
Strong verbal and written communicator.
High level of proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Understanding of the Bank’s management and financial reporting processes, and knowledge of the Bank’s financial reporting system and latest tools (including Hyperion, Alteryx and Tableau) is a strong asset.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
Solid comfort level in presenting to executives.
Ability to proactively follow up on identified issues and work toward resolution as well as identify process improvement opportunities.
Proficient in time management and demonstrated adaptability when changes are required.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision in an unstructured and fast-paced environment.
Assist the team in enhancements on expense automation, report centralization and standardization and other process initiatives.
Work activities include a blend of highly collaborative activities and individual deliverables.
Individuals are expected to be onsite 4 days a week. Colleagues may spend more or less days in office as required by the business line.
