Artificer Inc. is an engineering and steel fabrication company. We are a custom job shop with CWB certification to CSA Standard W47.1, welding and fitting both carbon steel and stainless steel. Our customers are large corporations who trust us to manufacture high-quality products, always delivered on time.
The Opportunity
We are ramping up a long-running production program and require skillful Fitter/Welders to build large steel bins and compactor bodies from drawings.
This is real fit-up work. You will lay out and fit assemblies square and to size, then weld them out. If you take satisfaction in a structure that goes together tight, measures right, and needs no rework, this is the job.
Core Responsibilities
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols, including complex multi-part assemblies
- Lay out, measure, and fit carbon steel and stainless steel components accurately to within 1/16"
- Set up work square and true, control fit-up gaps, and manage distortion through weld sequence
- Tack, fit, and weld out complete assemblies from start to finish using FCAW
- Check your own work against the drawing before it moves on
- Work safely with overhead cranes, slings,
and material handling
What We Require
- Demonstrated fitting ability on structural or plate assemblies — not just welding beads on prepped joints
- Sound production welding in FCAW on carbon steel; stainless experience an asset
- Confident blueprint reading and tape measure accuracy to 1/16"
- Comfort working from drawings with limited supervision once the job is understood
- Ability to pass a fit-up and weld test as part of the hiring process
- Reliable — here every scheduled day, on time, with absences called in ahead of shift
Asset Skills & Equipment Experience Experience with any of the following equipment or processes is a major asset:
- Cutting: Oxy-Acetylene torch and Plasma cutting
- Machinery: Press Brake and Ironworker
- Finishing: Grinders, Shot Blast machine, and Powder Coat painting
- Material Handling: Overhead cranes and forklifts
