Lead Fabricator – Architectural Metals & Stairs

About the Role

We’re a small, high detail welding and fabrication shop specializing in architectural metals, custom stair systems, and intricate one‑off builds. We’re looking for a Lead Fabricator who can take a project from blueprint to finished install with minimal supervision, supported by a dedicated helper.

This role is for someone who thrives on detail, craftsmanship, and problem‑solving — someone who can read complex drawings, plan their build, and execute clean, beautiful work.

Responsibilities

- Fabricate architectural metal components, custom stair systems, railings, and specialty pieces
- Interpret and build directly from blueprints, sketches, and site measurements
- Lead and mentor a fabrication helper; delegate tasks effectively
- Maintain high standards of fit‑up, weld quality, and finishing
- Operate shop equipment safely and efficiently (saws, brakes, rollers, welders, etc.)
- Work with tight tolerances and high‑detail assemblies
- Assist with on‑site installation when required




- Collaborate with the owner on project planning, sequencing, and quality control

Requirements

- 5+ years fabrication experience (architectural metals or stairs preferred)
- Strong blueprint reading and layout skills
- Proficiency in MIG/TIG welding on steel, stainless, and aluminum
- Ability to work independently and lead a small team
- Skilled with shop tools, jigs, fixtures, and precision measuring
- Comfortable with problem‑solving and adapting designs during fabrication
- Valid driver’s license; ability to lift 50+ lbs
