ABOUT THE ROLE
1010Tires.com Inc. is opening a new hybrid retail, service, storage, and distribution facility in Markham, and we’re looking for a skilled Wheel & Tire Technician to join our team. You’ll work in the service bay while also supporting warehouse and distribution operations. Our customers drive a variety of vehicles including, premium German, Japanese, and EV vehicles. This is not a high-volume, big-box install environment! We’re looking for someone who takes pride in precision, pays attention to every detail, and puts quality, care, and safety into every wheel and tire they service.
Experience with premium and EV-specific wheel and tire service is a strong asset, or an area you’re eager to master.
WHEEL & TIRE TECHNICIAN DUTIES
- Mount, dismount, and balance tires on premium alloy, forged, and staggered-fitment wheels using no-damage techniques (clamp protectors, proper bead lubrication, and low-profile/large-diameter setup) to avoid cosmetic or structural damage.
- Install and service run-flat, low-profile, and OE-spec tires to the correct fitment, load rating, and speed rating for German and premium Japanese makes (e.g., BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Lexus, Acura, Infiniti).
- Service EV-specific tires and wheels, accounting for higher vehicle curb weight, EV-rated/low-rolling-resistance tire construction, and the faster, uneven wear patterns common with instant-torque and regenerative braking.
- Torque all wheels to OEM specification using calibrated torque wrenches, and follow correct multi-stage/star-pattern tightening sequence — never impact-gun final torque on premium or EV wheels.
- Program, relearn, and service TPMS sensors across multiple makes, and correctly diagnose sensor faults versus mechanical tire/wheel issues.
- Perform road-force balancing and diagnose ride disturbances (vibration, pull, noise) to determine whether the cause is balance, tire condition, wheel damage, or an alignment referral.
- Inspect tires and wheels for damage, irregular wear, and repairability, and recommend the correct repair method — or advise against repair — based on industry and manufacturer standards.
- Rotate tires and manage directional, staggered, and asymmetric tread patterns correctly, including matching tires to the correct axle position.
- Check and adjust tire pressures to OEM cold-inflation specs,
including split front/rear pressures common on performance and EV applications.
- Handle and store premium wheels and tires carefully during customer seasonal changeovers, using proper bagging, racking, and labelling to prevent damage or mix-ups.
- Collect and record wheel and tire information for storage customers using the company app — condition, tread depth/wear details, wheel finish, and any damage — at drop-off and pick-up.
- Greet customers professionally in the service bay and provide clear, accurate updates on their vehicle, tires, and wheels.
- Safely drive customer vehicles in and out of the shop and bays, including premium and EV vehicles, with care consistent with their value.
- Safely operate all shop equipment (tire changers, balancers, torque tools, TPMS tools) suited to low-profile and large-diameter premium wheels.
- Stay current on wheel and tire fitment data, TPMS procedures, and EV service bulletins; participate in manufacturer or supplier training as offered.
- Support the Shop Manager and Service team with additional tasks as needed.
WAREHOUSE & DISTRIBUTION DUTIES
- Receive incoming shipments of tires, wheels, and accessories and verify against purchase orders.
- Stock, organize, and maintain accurate inventory locations throughout the warehouse.
- Load and unload delivery trucks and company vehicles.
- Manage customer seasonal tire storage: tagging, shelving, retrieval, and record accuracy.
- Pick, pack, and prepare orders and inter-location transfers for shipment.
- Assist the Warehouse team with cycle counts and inventory accuracy checks.
SAFETY & FACILITY MAINTENANCE
- Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of the service bay, tools, and equipment.
- Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of the warehouse and storage areas.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures and support a safe workplace for the whole team.
- Report any equipment discrepancies or safety concerns to the Shop Manager promptly.
REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years of experience as a tire/wheel technician, with demonstrated experience on premium, European, or Japanese luxury vehicles preferred.
- Working knowledge of TPMS programming/relearn procedures across multiple makes.
- Comfortable handling premium alloy/forged wheels, run-flats, and low-profile or staggered fitments without damage.
- Exposure to or willingness to be trained on EV tire and wheel service considerations (weight, torque characteristics, wear patterns, EV-rated tires).
- Tire Industry Association (TIA) certification, or equivalent, considered a strong asset.
- Comfortable working in a warehouse environment; previous warehouse, shipping, or receiving experience is an asset.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail — the kind that matters when a customer's wheels cost more than most people's tires.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; fluent in English (spoken and written).
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and to stand, bend, and move throughout a shift.
- Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record, required to move customer vehicles in and out of the shop.
- Comfortable using a tablet/app to record customer and vehicle information accurately.
SCHEDULE
- Full-time, Monday–Friday, with occasional Saturdays as required by seasonal demand.
- Location: 190 Allstate Parkway, Markham, Ontario.
