The Saint John Learning Exchange

Saint John

Are you passionate about making a real difference in people’s lives?

Do you see possibilities where others see barriers? Do you believe that employment is about more than getting someone a job? That it can be a pathway to confidence, independence, stability, and a whole new sense of what’s possible? If so, we want to meet you!

WorkLinks, a program of the Saint John Learning Exchange (SJLE), is not your typical employment service. We believe people are more than their resumes, their barriers, or their employment history. We are a team of committed professionals who meet people where they’re at and provide wraparound, human-first support that recognizes the whole person.

We’re looking for a Workforce Coach who brings compassion, creativity, energy, and an entrepreneurial spirit to their work. Someone who can build trust with a job seeker, build relationships with an employer, and find creative solutions when the traditional approach isn’t working. This is your chance to be part of a team that helps job seekers of all backgrounds build skills, find employment, and feel proud of their journey.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Workforce Coach, you’ll work alongside individuals ages 16+ as they explore their strengths, build confidence, prepare for the workforce, and move toward sustainable employment.

You’ll be part coach, part connector, part problem-solver, and part chance-maker. You’ll help people navigate the practical side of employment while also recognizing the personal and systemic barriers that can make employment feel out of reach.

In this role, you will:

- Work one-on-one with job seekers to build confidence, identify strengths, and create personalized pathways toward employment.
- Think outside the box. When a traditional approach isn’t working, you’ll find another way. You’ll look for creative solutions,

make connections, and develop new approaches to help people move forward.
- Match individuals with employment opportunities that align with their strengths, goals, interests, and potential.
- Lead with compassion. You’ll meet people where they’re at, listen without judgment, and recognize that everyone’s path to employment looks different.
- Support individuals through the transition into employment and provide ongoing coaching to help them succeed and stay employed.
- Lead engaging workshops focused on employment readiness, confidence, personal development, and workplace skills.
- Maintain an active caseload while keeping accurate and timely records.
- Collaborate with SJLE programs and community partners to create stronger pathways for learners and job seekers.
- Contribute to reports and storytelling that demonstrate our impact to community partners and funders.

What We Are Looking For We’re seeking someone more than just skilled. We’re looking for someone curious, compassionate, resourceful, and an out-of-the-box thinker.

You are someone who

- Sees potential in people—even when they don’t yet see it in themselves.
- Is a creative problem-solver who isn’t afraid to try something new.
- Builds authentic relationships and makes people feel seen, heard, and respected.
- Has the compassion to meet people where they’re at without judgment.
- Can build strong relationships with both job seekers and employers.

- Thrives in an environment where no two days look the same.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree, or a combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of experience working with vulnerable populations using a client-centred approach.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Flexible, empathetic, solutions-oriented and adaptable.
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve independently and work collaboratively.
- Tech-savvy: able to use Microsoft Office, Google Suite and social media platforms confidently.
