We are currently seeking a Workshop and Laboratory Technician for our Research & Development Center located in Anjou, Quebec.
Reporting to the Team Leader, the selected candidate will be responsible for performing hands‑on workshop and laboratory activities, including prototype fabrication and sample management, while working closely with the R&D; team. This person will also oversee various logistical functions such as purchasing, shipping, and workshop maintenance, while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The Workshop and Laboratory Technician is part of a dynamic, multifunctional team composed of individuals with a wide range of technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities - Perform a variety of workshop and laboratory tasks, including test setup, rapid prototyping, painting, and modeling.
- Work closely,
in both French and English, with R&D; team members, plant personnel, and external suppliers located outside Quebec.
- Coordinate the management of samples and prototypes.
- Maintain a well-organised and efficient workshop.
- Regularly communicate task progress and project updates.
- Inspect and ensure quality control of inbound and outbound shipments related to R&D; projects.
- Prepare, organise, and schedule shipments through parcel transportation providers.
- Process purchases and manage invoicing activities.
- Operate a forklift.
- Contribute to and uphold Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards.
Required Qualifications and Experience - Technical diploma (DEC) or vocational diploma (DEP) in a relevant field such as manufacturing, mechanical design, or an equivalent discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role within a laboratory, manufacturing, or construction workplace.
- Ability to lift 22 to 28 kg (50 to 60 lbs) and perform physically demanding work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French.
- English proficiency (spoken and written) is essential to communicate with suppliers and U.S.-based manufacturing facilities as part of the role.
- Adaptable, versatile, and self‑motivated learner.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship‑building skills.
- Experience operating one or more of the following equipment: forklift, lathe, milling machine, cutting machine, saw, or CNC equipment.
- Ability to create technical drawings using CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD. What Oldcastle APG Offers - Paid holiday shutdown during the Christmas season (10 days, including 5 statutory holidays and 5 floating days).
