Overview The Yard Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the automotive recycling yard, ensuring the facility operates safely, efficiently, and in an organized manner. This position leads yard staff, coordinates vehicle processing and inventory, maintains equipment and property, and ensures vehicles and parts are handled according to company procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

- Supervise, train, and coordinate yard employees and daily workloads.
- Oversee the receiving, processing, dismantling, storage, and movement of vehicles throughout the yard.
- Ensure vehicles, parts, and materials are properly identified, organized, and stored.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized yard and work environment.
- Enforce company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Coordinate the use and maintenance of forklifts, loaders, vehicles, tools, and other yard equipment.
- Monitor inventory organization and assist with locating vehicles and parts when required.
- Coordinate vehicle movement, loading, unloading, and scrap/metal handling.
- Identify operational issues and take action to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Conduct regular yard inspections and address safety, housekeeping, and maintenance concerns.
- Ensure employees follow proper procedures for hazardous materials, fluids, batteries, tires, and other automotive recycling materials.
- Work closely with management, sales, dismantling, and purchasing teams to keep operations running smoothly.
- Track employee attendance, performance, productivity, and daily assignments.




- Report equipment issues, damages, safety concerns, and other operational problems to management.
- Operate a front-end loader and other heavy yard equipment safely and efficiently for moving vehicles, scrap metal, materials, and other items throughout the yard.
- Assist with hiring, training, and performance management of yard staff as required.
- Perform other duties necessary to support the overall operations of KW Auto Wreckers.

Qualifications:

- Previous experience in automotive recycling, auto dismantling, scrap, warehouse, construction, or a similar yard environment is an asset.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate yard equipment safely.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
- Valid driver's licence is an asset.
- Previous experience operating a front-end loader or similar heavy equipment is required.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently in a busy automotive recycling yard.
- Valid heavy equipment operator certification or relevant training is an asset.
- Ability to lift, move, and handle automotive parts and materials as required.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader who can manage people, equipment, inventory, and daily yard operations while maintaining a robust focus on safety, productivity, and customer service. Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
