Year-Round Property Maintenance Technician

Landscaping, Snow Removal and General Maintenance

Location: Calgary, Alberta

Employment: Full-time, permanent, year-round

Compensation: $18.00–$25.00 per hour, based on experience, licensing and equipment-operating ability

Summit Property Group is hiring dependable, skilled people to join our property maintenance team.

We provide year-round services to institutional, public-sector, housing and community-based organizations throughout Calgary. Many of the properties we serve support vulnerable individuals and people with complex needs. Our employees must demonstrate reliability, sound judgment, professional boundaries and a consistently high standard of ethical conduct.

We are hiring immediately for summer grounds maintenance and project work. As winter approaches, opportunities will expand into snow-removal crews, crew-lead positions and plow-equipment operation. During seasonal slowdowns, employees may be assigned work across our service departments, including maintenance tasks.

This is hourly, year-round employment—not a winter contract or fixed seasonal payment. Employees are paid for hours worked, including applicable overtime.

Responsibilities

Depending on the season, your experience and operational requirements, duties may include:

- Grass cutting, trimming, edging, cleanup and general groundskeeping
- Landscape enhancement, cleanup and property-improvement projects
- Snow shovelling, snow-blower operation and ice-control application
- Operating plow trucks, skid steers or other snow-removal equipment when qualified
- Inspecting properties and identifying safety, maintenance or service concerns
- Performing minor repairs and general property-maintenance tasks
- Using hand tools, power equipment and small machinery safely
- Completing daily vehicle and equipment inspections
- Providing accurate photo documentation and electronic service reports

- Following site-specific procedures and maintaining respectful conduct around residents, clients and the public
- Responding to changing priorities and assisting other departments as required

What We’re Looking For The right candidate is someone we can trust to arrive on time, complete work properly and represent Summit professionally—even when working independently.

Qualifications include

- A valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s Licence and an acceptable driver’s abstract
- Ability to meet company vehicle-insurance requirements
- Previous experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, snow removal, construction or property maintenance is preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding outdoor work
- Willingness to work in Calgary weather throughout the year
- Availability for early mornings, extended shifts, weekends and overnight callouts during snow events
- Ability to follow instructions, document work accurately and communicate concerns promptly
- Respectful, calm and professional conduct in sensitive or high-needs environments
- Strong attention to safety, service quality and property standards
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a crew

Experience operating plow trucks, skid steers, sweepers, mowers or other commercial equipment is an asset. Experienced applicants may be considered for crew-lead or equipment-operator positions.

Mandatory Criminal Record Check

Because our work includes institutional properties and locations serving vulnerable or high-needs populations, a satisfactory Criminal Record Check is a condition of employment.

Employees are also expected to protect client privacy, maintain professional boundaries and follow all site-access and conduct requirements.

What We Offer

- Competitive hourly compensation of $18.00–$25.00
- Full-time, permanent, year-round employment
- Payment for all hours worked
- Overtime opportunities and applicable overtime pay
- Work across multiple service departments to support year-round scheduling
- Dental care, extended health care and life insurance
- Training on company procedures, documentation systems and equipment
- Opportunities to advance into crew-lead and equipment-operator positions
- A practical, team-oriented workplace where dependable performance is recognized

Schedule
- Typically Monday through Friday
- Shifts may range from 8–12 hours depending on operational requirements
- Weekend, overnight and overtime availability may be required
- Winter employees must be available for weather-dependent snow events, including early-morning (4am) and overnight callouts
