YouTube Strategist - Head of Content
Location: Remote (Highly Asynchronous)
Reports To: Founder & CEO
Compensation: Competitive salary + performance bonus The Mission: Own the growth strategy for a 320K+ subscriber travel channel (70M+ views) targeting American travelers aged 55+. Channel: Portable Professional The Role
We are looking for an in-house YouTube strategist (think: Paddy Galloway or Jamie Whiffen). You will own our content engine to pitch current videos each week: what we are making next, why it will win, and exactly how it will be packaged before a single frame is shot. Data driven decisions, A/B/C variants + post publish audit.
Weekly Deliverables
- What are we making next? (The exact long-form and short-form concepts)
- Why will it win? (The audience psychology, competitor outliers, or data validation behind it)
- How is it packaged? (The exact title angles, thumbnail concepts, and hook structures)
- What did we learn? (A post-mortem analysis of recent uploads to pivot our strategy)
What You'll Do
- Validate: Run a strict validation framework to kill weak ideas early.
- Package: Design high-CTR titles and thumbnail directions before production begins.
- Script: Shape hooks and video structures to optimize audience retention.
- Direct: Give sharp, clear creative feedback to our editor and thumbnail designer.
- Analyze: Turn channel analytics (CTR, AVD, traffic sources)
into immediate programming pivots.
Who You Are
- The Strategist: 3+ years managing high-performing YouTube channels. You bring your own proven frameworks.
- Data-Driven: You live in YouTube Studio. You understand the nuances of each metric, traffic sources and can read a retention graph like a roadmap to fix pacing mistakes instantly.
- Ruthless Editor: You prefer finding 3 high-conviction, massive-leverage video concepts over generating an endless list of mediocre ideas. You are a strict gatekeeper who validates concepts aggressively, killing weak ideas before a single line of a script is ever written.
- Autonomous Worker: You are a highly organized, self-directed professional who thrives in a 95% asynchronous environment. You measure your success by output, quality, and hitting deadlines. You communicate clearly in writing, document your decisions, and maximize the efficiency of our single, one-hour weekly sync meeting.
