Assist with design of steel, concrete and masonry structures
Analyze the capacity of existing structures and design reinforcement when required
Collaborate with senior and junior engineers
Participate in design meetings with owners, architects and other consultants
Participate in construction site meetings
Conduct construction site visits to review work for general compliance with structural drawings and contract documents
Assist the design team with structural design for residential, commercial, industrial and institutional projects
Requirements
Degree in Structural Engineering from a recognized university
Preferably 1 - 3 years’ experience in structural engineering with a focus on structural analysis and design in buildings
Experience with NBCC and CSA standards
Field experience on construction sites, conducting general reviews for compliance with drawings and specifications, and writing site reports
Experience with Etabs, PROTECTED, SAP and other similar structural design software
Proven ability to work independently with minimum direction
Commitment and dedication to client service and technical excellence
Effective communication skills and ability to handle changing needs while working effectively with diverse groups
Strategic thinking ability to determine required work and draw rational conclusions from available information
A valid driver’s license is required
