Engage with local history in a Collections Technician Internship offered by the City of Port Colborne. This role is centered around organizing archival collections and supporting digitization efforts.
Working within the Department of Museum, Heritage and Culture, this internship will take place at the L.R. Wilson Heritage Research Archives. You will help with the digitization of archival collections, ensuring the community's documentary heritage remains accessible. Funded through the Young Canada Works program, the position offers a contract until February 2027.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support organization and processing of archival collections
• Aid in ongoing digitization projects to boost collection accessibility
• Utilize digitization tools to create digital records
• Manage documentation and database tasks
• Engage in training for archival procedures
Requirements:
• Registration with Young Canada Works is mandatory
• Degree in history, public history or related fields
• Strong organizational and analytical abilities
• Experience or volunteering in museums or archives is an asset
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and familiarity with databases
