As an Account Manager & New Business Development qualified, you will sell truck, industrial, and retail scales together with service, calibration, and preventative-maintenance programs to plant managers, purchasing departments, and owner/executive buyers in the aggregate, asphalt, waste and recycling, food, agricultural, and municipal sectors. This role is approximately 25% new business development, 25% account management, 25% administrative duties, and 25% strategic support to ownership in Year 1, shifting to 50% new business development and 25% account management in Year 2. Leads come from a mix of company-supplied warm relationships, a company-supplied prospect list, and self-sourced prospecting. The sales territory covers Belleville, Kingston, Cobourg, and Peterborough, extending to Cornwall, the Greater Toronto Area, and Northern Ontario. This is a newly created position, the company's first dedicated sales hire, reporting directly to the owner. The base salary is $85,000 – $95,000, plus uncapped commission.

THE COMPANY & CULTURE
Our client was founded in 1969 and is a privately held, single-owner company with a team of approximately 10 employees, that has grown 15–25% annually for four-plus consecutive years. Based in Belleville, Ontario, they provide truck, industrial, and retail scale sales, service, calibration, and preventative-maintenance programs, and are accredited by Measurement Canada. They have recently expanded into pressure washing, mobile welding, security camera installation, and dustless sandblasting services. Their culture is hands-on, customer-driven, and service-forward, with a team-oriented leadership style. Clients include Lafarge, Waste Management, Redpath, CBM, Drain Bros, and Sofina.

OFFICE LOCATION & SALES TERRITORY

Head Office: Belleville, Ontario

Work arrangement: Office-based, minimum 3 days per week, combined with field-based outside sales

Sales territory:



Belleville, Kingston, Cobourg, and Peterborough, extending to Cornwall, the GTA, and Northern Ontario

Client-facing expectations: regular on-site visits to gravel pits, plants, and industrial facilities

Hours: Monday to Thursday core hours on a 4-day work week; Fridays covered as needed for clients

Overnight travel: Occasional, approximately 2–3 times per year, for trade shows, training, and client visits

EXPERIENCE, BACKGROUND & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

5–10 years of B2B sales experience

Minimum 2–3 years of industrial, technical, or mechanical background required

Proven hunter, comfortable with cold calls and in-person site visits

Mechanical/technical aptitude; candidates from the service or production side are strongly preferred

Post-secondary education or equivalent professional experience

Valid driver's licence and vehicle required

Bilingualism is not required

CRM experience (Hubspot, Salesforce, Pipedrive etc.)

THE PRODUCT / SERVICE / SOLUTION

Truck, industrial, and retail scale sales and installation

Scale service, repair, and load-cell replacement

Calibration and recertification services

Preventative-maintenance contracts (annual, quarterly, and monthly)

Expanding service lines: pressure washing, mobile welding, security camera installation, and dustless sandblasting

PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS / INDUSTRY FOCUS / DECISION MAKER(S)

Aggregate, asphalt, waste and recycling, food, agricultural, and municipal operations

Small-to-mid-sized businesses, typically 20–99 employees

Primary decision-makers: plant managers, purchasing departments, and owner/executive buyers

SALES CYCLE / ORDER VALUE / ACCOUNT SIZE

Smaller platform scale, floor scale, and service work is more transactional and repeats regularly





Larger truck-scale installation and multi-component project quotes (site work, instrumentation, crane, trucking, leasing options) involve a longer, consultative sales cycle

Preventative-maintenance and calibration contracts provide recurring account revenue

Approximately 25% warm leads supplied by the company

Approximately 50% from a company-supplied prospect list

Approximately 25% self-prospected through cold calling, networking, referrals, and industry contacts

OVERNIGHT TRAVEL

Occasional — approximately 2 to 3 times per year

Travel is for trade shows, company training, and select client visits, not required for regular day-to-day selling

SUPPORT & TRAINING

Initial ramp period of approximately 3–6 months working alongside ownership and field technicians

Learning curve of approximately 1+ year to full technical productivity given the specialized, regulated nature of the product

Manufacturer-provided technical training available
