The Cree First Nation of Waswanipi is seeking a resourceful, organized, and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Administrative Assistant to Forest Enhancement and Niskamoon within the Cultural Pursuits Department. The Administrative Assistant will provide comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Coordinators and departmental staff. This role is essential in ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the department through effective communication, organization, reporting, and administrative coordination. Key Responsibilities
Prepare, format, and process correspondence, reports, proposals, and other departmental documents; Maintain and organize filing systems and administrative records; Welcome visitors and direct inquiries appropriately; Answer, screen,
and transfer telephone calls while taking accurate messages; Coordinate travel arrangements and schedule appointments; Record and prepare meeting minutes; Administer and maintain departmental reporting systems; Monitor project-related documentation and provide project lists to appropriate colleagues; Process payroll and payments related to departmental projects in accordance with established policies and procedures; Provide general administrative support to ensure efficient departmental operations. Two-year College Diploma in Administration or a related field, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Ability to speak Cree is required; Ability to read and write English is required; French language skills are considered an asset; Robust oral and written communication skills; Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and word processing software; Ability to follow procedures, maintain confidentiality, and work independently.
