The Opportunity The New Equipment Prep Technician is responsible for the assembly, preparation, and final setup of new heavy equipment prior to delivery to customers. This isnot a traditional Heavy Equipment Technician (HET)role - it is focused onnew machine builds, accessory installation, pre‑delivery preparation, and branding workwithin the shop. The technician ensures every recent machine is professionally assembled according to build specifications and dealership standards before it goes to retail customers. The Role Equipment Assembly & Pre‑Builds Assemble and prepare new heavy equipment-primarilyHitachi excavatorsandWheel loaders Work ontwo units at a time, aligning machines and components per required build specs and within budget. Perform pre‑build tasks to ready equipment for retail and customer delivery. Attachment & System Installation Install and test: Webasto and engine block heaters Positive air shut‑off systems Attachments and guarding Hydraulic kits Machine programing PDI (Pre‑Delivery Inspection) Additional accessories or branding components as required. Branding & Presentation Apply decals, branding, and finishing touches to meet dealership standards. Ensure machines are clean, complete, and presentation‑ready. Shop Support & Documentation Complete pre‑delivery inspection forms and related documentation. Coordinate upcoming builds with the Service Manager. Maintain accurate records of work performed and components installed. Participate in required Health & Safety training and follow all safety procedures. Perform housekeeping duties and contribute to a clean, organized shop environment.The Candidate Experience & Skills Experience assembling or working withlarge excavatorsor heavy equipment preferred. Mechanical aptitude-doesnotrequire a trade certification.
Stocked toolbox including hand tools, power tools and precision tools Ability to interpret build sheets, installation instructions, and accessory requirements. Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship. Reliable, safety‑focused, and able to work efficiently in a high‑volume prep environment. Ideal Candidate Attributes Comfortable with repetitive, consistent tasks- this role involves daily prep work on new equipment. Looking for a long‑term positionwith stable expectations and routine. Enjoys hands‑on mechanical work and assembling components. Values structure, process, and consistency. Education Mechanical, assembly, or shop experience is required.
