You’ll work alongside skilled, collaborative, and safety-focused teammates.You'll play a key role in ensuring the structural integrity and safety compliance of our onboard installation projects. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (engineering, installation, and safety teams), perform high-quality welding tasks, and contribute to the timely execution of installation schedules while supporting safety and quality initiatives.You’ll specifically take care of performing stick welding (SMAW) on various metals, but also undertake additional tasks such as mechanical installations, retrofits, and process improvement initiatives.We’ll look to you for:Performing high-quality welding and fabrication tasks to support onboard installation projectsReading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and welding specificationsPreparing materials and surfaces for welding by cleaning, cutting, and grindingEnsuring proper use, control, and maintenance of welding machinery and toolsInspecting welds for accuracy and quality, ensuring compliance with safety and engineering standardsCollaborating with cross-functional teams to align welding tasks with project timelinesSupporting non-welding tasks such as mechanical installations, retrofits,



and process improvementsEngaging in training and certification programs to enhance your welding expertiseContributing to safety culture through risk documentation and mitigation effortsSupporting tool management, lean manufacturing, and 5S initiativesAll About YouWe value passion and attitude over experience. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:Diploma or certification in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related fieldOntario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalentExperience or understanding of welding systems for railway, transit, or heavy vehiclesKnowledge of technical drawings, welding symbols, and metalworking processesFamiliarity with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and PPE usageA welding certification (e.G., CWB or AWS) or willingness to obtain one, ability to maintain welding certification during employment is a mustExperience with lean manufacturing, Kaizen, or continuous improvement methodologiesAbility to work in dynamic environments, including confined spaces or elevated areasAbility to adapt to changing schedules, environments, and technical requirements.Ability to handle and carry tools, bend, kneel, fit for duty,Solid adaptability, communication, and collaboration skillsKnowledge of ASME Code for Pressure Piping, B31.3 is desirableFamiliarity with standards such as AAR, AWS D15.1, EN12663, and IEC 61373,
