Principal duties of the Controller - 3 months:

Our Client, Media6 IMG, manufactures quality custom commercial furniture and fixtures is searching for a results-oriented Controller to join their finance team on a 3-month contract. There is strong potential for the role to convert into a permanent position for the right candidate. The Controller will operate independently while partnering with the Chief Financial Officer, who is based in France and retains responsibility for the organization's overall financial strategy. The role is in office full time at 5 days a week located in Mississauga.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance leader who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys being involved in the details, and can effectively manage cash flow through seasonal business cycles.

Key Responsibilities:

- Financial Management & Operations
- Lead and manage the day-to-day Finance function, ensuring accurate and timely financial operations.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting, reconciliations, and general accounting activities.
- Manage cash flow forecasting, monitoring, and planning to support the organization's seasonal operational needs.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities in partnership with the CFO.
- Leadership & Team Management
- Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to a small finance team, including:
- Payroll Analyst
- AP/AR Specialist

- Foster a collaborative and accountable team workplace.
- Assist with prioritization of work and ensure operational deadlines are met.




- Cross-Functional Oversight
- Oversee daily Legal and IT administrative operations and act as a key liaison with external service providers and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with department leaders to support business needs and operational efficiency.
- Address emerging operational issues and adapt priorities as business demands evolve.
- Business Partnership
- Serve as the primary finance lead on-site while maintaining regular communication with the CFO.
- Provide insights and recommendations to support informed business decisions.
- Ensure continuity and stability during the leadership transition period.

Required Experience

- Proven experience as a Controller with a strong hands-on approach to accounting and financial operations.
- Demonstrated success managing cash flow within a seasonal or cyclical business environment.
- Experience leading and developing small teams.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple functions and departments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Technical Skills
- Strong accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred.
