Make a difference in the lives of youth as a Peer Support Worker for Tropicana Community Services. This part-time role focuses on mentoring youth impacted by high-risk activities, including justice involvement.
In this role, you'll collaborate with the Social Worker to provide essential mentorship and support services to youth aged 12-29. Your understanding of community dynamics and credibility will build trust, enabling youth to navigate their challenges and work toward reintegration into society.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop authentic relationships with youth participants
• Mentor and support youth through reintegration activities
• Act as a positive role model for at-risk individuals
• Help in developing essential life skills
• Reach out to youth engaged in high-risk activities
Requirements:
• Knowledge of gangs and the justice system
• Strong understanding of youth culture and social media
• Proven ability to build trust in communities
• Valuable judgment in crisis situations
• Commitment to anti-oppression work
