Where will you work: Onsite - Colonsay, Saskatchewan, Canada Are you our next Underground Mechanical Engineer? As an Underground Mechanical Engineer, you will support safe, reliable, and efficient potash mining operations by improving equipment performance and asset reliability. In this role, you will provide technical expertise for maintenance, production, and engineering activities while leveraging predictive and preventative maintenance technologies to assess asset health and support informed decision-making. You will lead engineering analysis, troubleshooting, root cause investigations, maintenance planning, and capital project execution while partnering with operations, maintenance, and capital teams to optimize underground mining equipment and systems. What You'll Do
Support underground mining operations by improving equipment reliability and maintenance effectiveness through engineering analysis and data-driven decision-making. Utilize predictive and preventative maintenance technologies to evaluate asset health and recommend actions that improve reliability, equipment availability, and operational performance. Lead and support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and the development of practical solutions to maintenance and equipment performance issues. Plan, coordinate, and manage maintenance projects, including scheduling work, conducting risk-based assessments, and organizing third-party inspections and services.
Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance planners, tradespersons, and supervisors, including management of change activities. Evaluate and support major maintenance and construction projects within the mine department to ensure safe and effective execution. Lead and/or assist with the execution of capital projects and collaborate with capital teams to incorporate reliability and maintainability improvements into new equipment and systems. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, training programs, and safety improvement activities. What do you need for this role?
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical degree preferred) Engineer I: 0–2 years of co‑op or internship experience Engineer II: 2+ years of related experience in maintenance engineering Engineer III: 4+ years of related experience in maintenance engineering Senior Engineer: 8+ years of related experience in maintenance engineering Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with accreditation from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across cross‑functional teams Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SAP Bonus Points
Previous experience in mining, potash, industrial processing, manufacturing, or another relevant heavy industry environment Experience supporting maintenance reliability programs, predictive maintenance technologies, or asset health monitoring Experience managing engineering or capital projects What's in it for You
