Step into the role of a volunteer mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters in Edmonton, Alberta. Support youth in care through consistent engagement and activities that foster positive development.
As a Youth in Care mentor, you will form supportive relationships with children living in group homes or foster care. This involves a commitment of at least one year, during which you'll dedicate time biweekly or weekly to introduce them to activities like reading, cooking, or outdoor adventures. Your involvement can significantly improve their self-esteem and future prospects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Spend weekly or biweekly time with your mentee
• Explore a variety of protected and enjoyable activities




• Build a trusting relationship through consistent support
• Undergo necessary volunteer training and screening
• Assist in fostering developmental goals for the youth
Requirements:
• Aged 18 or older
• Complete a police clearance including child checks
• Attend a 2-hour interview and training session
• Acquire the Alberta Mentoring Partnership Certificate
• Possess a valid Driver's License for travel
Be a catalyst for change by mentoring youth who need guidance and friendship.
