Empower Indigenous women in crisis with your role as a Part-Time Outreach Worker for the STORM program at Minwaashin Lodge. Engage in mobile outreach and community support on evenings.
Reporting to the Director at Oshki Kizis Lodge, this physically demanding position engages with First Nation, Inuit, and Métis women at risk of homelessness or trafficking. Using a van, you'll provide important advocacy and access to local services while managing multiple responsibilities during your shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide evening support as part of a two-person team
• Offer direct assistance to women experiencing homelessness
• Manage referrals to Indigenous and mainstream services
• Keep a detailed log of services offered to clients
• Prepare resources for distribution and maintain supplies in the van
Requirements:
• Background in working with urban Indigenous communities necessary
• Minimum 2 years of related experience required
• Knowledge of Ottawa's support systems essential
• Current Criminal Records Check and First Aid certification required
• Robust communication and organizational skills
