Postmedia is a Canadian news media company representing more than 110 brands across print, online, and mobile platforms. The Financial Post is hiring a senior journalist to expand our energy coverage in Western Canada.
Responsibilities
- Interview CEOs, analysts, workers and other newsmakers in the energy industry to deliver comprehensive coverage of Canada’s energy sector.
- Cultivate sources, locate stories buried in documents, and break news on tight deadlines while writing in a clear, concise, and engaging style.
- Cover daily news files and company earnings, investigate in-depth stories, and write explainers on complicated topics for a broad, national audience.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of reporting experience, preferably in business journalism.
- Knowledge and experience in covering energy.
- Demonstrated ability to identify trends and drivers behind news and explain the implications.
- Demonstrated ability to write effectively in various formats, from breaking news to explanatory work to long‑form features.
- Canadian Securities Course is an asset.
- Experience with data analysis is an asset.
- Video or podcast experience is an asset.
