Senior Business Analyst – Business Engagement & Technology Planning (Liquid Pipelines)
Location: Calgary (On site Hybrid(Mon, tue, thu in office))
Duration: 12 months
Role Overview
The Senior Business Analyst partners with stakeholders across the Liquid Pipelines business and Technology & Information Services (TIS) to identify business needs, analyze processes, define requirements, and deliver technology solutions that drive business objectives. Serving as a key liaison, this role ensures technology investments support strategic priorities and operational goals. The successful candidate brings business analysis and consulting expertise, structured problem-solving, and strong stakeholder engagement, acting as an integrated member of the TIS Business Engagement team.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage stakeholders to understand strategic objectives, operational priorities, and technology needs.
- Elicit, document, analyze, and validate business, functional, and non-functional requirements for technology initiatives.
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and discovery sessions to identify process improvement and technology opportunities.
- Analyze current-state processes, workflows, and systems; recommend improvements for efficiency, data quality, decision-making, and user experience.
- Develop business cases, process maps, user stories, requirements documentation, and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with solution architects, project teams, vendors, and stakeholders to align solutions with requirements and strategic objectives.
- Prioritize and evaluate technology requests, projects, and enhancements based on business value, risk, regulatory considerations, and strategic alignment.
- Apply consulting methodologies and business analysis best practices to assess opportunities and provide recommendations.
- Participate in solution design reviews; contribute business analysis expertise.
- Support testing, user acceptance, and implementation planning for successful adoption.
- Provide analytical insights and recommendations for business decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Assist with change management and stakeholder communications regarding process changes and new technologies.
- Monitor solution performance and stakeholder feedback to identify enhancements.
- Maintain strong relationships with business, operational, and technology stakeholders.
- Preferred/Asset Qualifications
- Experience in pipeline operations, energy, transportation, utilities, or large-scale operational settings.
- Knowledge of Liquid Pipelines operations, integrity management, engineering, commercial services, field operations, or asset management.
- Professional certifications (CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, PMP, Agile, etc.).
- Key Accountabilities
- Act as trusted advisor between Liquid Pipelines business and TIS.
- Ensure business requirements are clearly defined, validated, and aligned with strategy.
- Identify and recommend process improvements and digital enablement opportunities.
- Support delivery and adoption of technology solutions that deliver measurable business value.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration for desired outcomes.
- Apply consulting and analysis methodologies to assess challenges and support transformation.
- Guide business modernization through process optimization, technology enablement, change management, and continuous improvement.
Ideal Candidate

- They are comfortable with ambiguity, adept at engaging senior leaders and facilitating decision-making, and skilled at translating complex business challenges into actionable solutions.
- Experience from consulting or skilled services, plus exposure to energy, utility, or pipeline operations, is highly valued.
