A small family run equipment dealer is looking for a Head Shop Mechanic based in Etobicoke, Ontario and offers an prospect to work independently in a small, family-oriented shop setting. The role involves servicing and diagnosing a diverse fleet of equipment including wood chippers, stump grinders, skid steers, and lawnmowers. The mechanic will work primarily in-shop with occasional field service opportunities, taking ownership of their work and building direct relationships with customers.
Requirements:
Must-haves:
Minimum 5 years of heavy-duty mechanical experience
Strong hydraulic diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
Solid electrical diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
Ability to read schematics and understand low-voltage systems
Valid driver's license
Own hand tools
Attention to detail and ability to diagnose root causes rather than guess at solutions
Experience with equipment similar to chippers or skid steers
CAN bus diagnostic experience
Compensation & Benefits:
$40$48/hour (5+ years experience)
Weekly paid lunch (every Thursday)
Yearly performance-based bonus in April
$150/year boot allowance
Specialty tools and safety equipment provided by employer
Standard two weeks vacation
Company-supplied t-shirts and sweatshirts
On-site and factory training provided by manufacturer
No benefits currently offered company investigating future options
Hours:
Day shift: 8:00 AM5:00 PM or 8:00 AM4:30 PM
Minimal overtime on an as-needed basis
No on-call requirements
Mix of shop-based and field service work
Service truck remains at shop (occasional off-site work on one-off basis)
