We are currently seeking Landscape Labourers to specialize in Sod Installations and Maintenance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing and caring for sod, ensuring that all work is done efficiently and effectively to meet the expectations of clients. The Landscape Laborer will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions, performing manual tasks related to the installation and maintenance of sod.
The position is seasonal and will run until the end of October. However, we have room for employees to grow as our company continues to expand, so the right candidates may be considered for permanent, year-round positions. Salary will be dependent on experience.
Responsibilities
Prepare site for new sod or landscaping including removing old grass, grading to ensure proper drainage, and raking soil.
Install current sod or landscaping on prepared areas
Safely operate and maintain various landscaping tools and equipment
Ensure all work is completed in a timely and effective manner
Assist with general landscape maintenance such as trimming trees and shrubs, weeding, mulching,
and planting as needed (typically only applies during Spring or Fall cleanup times)
Conducting in a professional manner when communicating with clients or representing the company
Other duties as required
Qualifications
Previous experience in sod installation and/or landscaping maintenance preferred
Previous experience raking soil to prepare for sod installation a huge asset
General knowledge of sod and how to care for it
Ability to operate and maintain various landscaping equipment
Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team setting as well as follow directions
Good physical condition, able to work for extended periods in all weather conditions (able to lift up to 50lbs)
Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation (drivers abstract required)
Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
