IT Field Service Technician (Contract): Houston, TX

Job Overview

Our client is hiring a IT Field Service Technician to support network infrastructure improvements during a project in Houston. This role is ideal for someone early in their networking career who is eager to work with hardware and assist with deployment tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Deployment & Installation
Assist with network cable installation and organization
Support deployment and configuration of Fortinet switches and access points
Assist with physical network infrastructure and server room improvements
Test network connections and basic troubleshooting

Support & Documentation
Follow instructions from the senior technician on installations and configurations
Assist with labeling, asset tracking, and documentation
Help identify and report network issues for resolution

Qualifications
1–3 years of experience in an IT support, field tech, or network installation role
Basic familiarity with networking concepts and hardware




Ability to follow technical instructions and work in physically demanding environments
Willingness to learn and collaborate on a high-pace in office project

Preferred
Networking coursework or certifications (e.g., Network+, CCNA – in progress)
Exposure to structured cabling and basic firewall/switch configuration

Have you worked on-site installing or supporting network cabling or hardware as part of a project?
Have you worked in a server room or network closet environment before?
Are you comfortable commuting or driving up to 1–2 hours for in office work if required?
Are you legally authorized to work in the Canada?
Are you able to work in office in Montreal, QC for the full project duration?
