Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and driven Chef to help open our new coastal restaurant, Navvy House, in West Vancouver. Working closely with Culinary Director Mike Rose, you will help build the kitchen from the ground up ahead of opening this fall, then lead daily kitchen operations once we launch. This role is ideal for someone who wants to be part of a new restaurant from the start, with a focus on seasonal menus, fresh seafood, and quality proteins.

Duties
Assist the Culinary Director with menu development and recipe standardization.
Help set up the kitchen ahead of opening, including equipment, vendors, and inventory systems.
Recruit, hire, and train kitchen staff.
Oversee food preparation and cooking to established recipes and presentation standards.
Ensure food safety and sanitation guidelines are followed consistently.
Manage inventory levels and place orders as needed.
Supervise kitchen staff, providing leadership and hands on support during service.
Collaborate with front of house leadership to ensure smooth service.




Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.

Requirements
Must have chef experience of at least 2 years.
Experience with restaurant openings is an asset.
Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, seasonal menus, and food safety regulations.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and guide a team.
Ability to work well under pressure in a rapid paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong communication skills for close collaboration with the Culinary Director and ownership.
A passion for seasonal cooking, fresh seafood, and quality proteins.
Food Secure certification, or willingness to obtain.

Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
