Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Recreation Aide to join our team in providing engaging activities and social opportunities for residents in a senior living or assisted living workplace. The ideal candidate will support the well-being and quality of life of seniors by facilitating recreational programs, fostering social interaction, and creating a positive, inclusive atmosphere. Experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or working with individuals with disabilities is highly valued. Duties
Set up and lead recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including arts and crafts, games, music, and outings
Support residents during activities, ensuring safety and engagement
Foster social interaction among residents to promote mental and emotional well-being
Assist with daily routines as needed, including mobility support and companionship
Collaborate with care staff to coordinate activities that complement residents’ care plans
Maintain a clean and organized activity area
Communicate effectively with residents,
family members, and team members to promote a positive setting
Observe and report on residents’ participation and any changes in their condition or behavior
Requirements
Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or working with seniors or individuals with disabilities is preferred
Knowledge of dementia care and caregiving best practices is a plus
Solid communication skills to interact empathetically with residents and team members
Ability to work collaboratively within a caregiving team
Compassionate attitude with patience and understanding for seniors’ needs
Ability to assist with mobility support and engage residents in meaningful activities
Must be reliable, responsible, and committed to enhancing residents’ quality of life
