Duties
Safely operate a Class 1 commercial truck within local routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment when necessary, ensuring proper handling and securement
Conduct routine inspections of the vehicle, including brakes, tires, lights, and other critical systems; perform basic automotive repairs if needed
Manage freight documentation accurately, including delivery logs, manifests, and inspection reports
Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers to coordinate deliveries and pickups
Maintain cleanliness and safety of the truck and work area at all times
Assist with forklift operation during loading/unloading processes to ensure efficient handling of freight
Qualifications
Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
Minimum 2 years of proven experience in commercial driving and freight transportation within local areas
Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts safely and efficiently
Knowledge of automotive repair basics for routine vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting
Solid understanding of safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and freight handling
Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
Physical ability to lift heavy objects, perform inspections, and work in various weather conditions
