Shape the future of students at Fort Rupert Elementary School as a First Nation Support Worker. This role focuses on promoting Kwakwaka’wakw culture and language to enrich students' learning experiences.
As a contract worker, you will engage for 26 hours weekly with students, teachers, and the community to foster a deeper understanding of Indigenous culture and support academic achievement. Your efforts will involve creating learning resources and facilitating cultural programs. Relationship-building with students and families is fundamental to ensuring their success and engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Encourage understanding of Indigenous traditions and contemporary issues
• Assist teachers in delivering culturally relevant materials
• Organize cultural presentations with community leaders
• Provide academic support to students in various subjects
• Monitor and record student progress for Indigenous programs
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum one year of post-secondary education
• In-depth knowledge of Kwakwaka’wakw traditions
• Ability to support students in core subjects
• Preferred experience with First Nations communities
