This role offers an prospect to contribute to our data strategy and be part of a collaborative, customer-focused team.Overview of role:The Solution Architect, Data is accountable for the development and maturity of information and data architecture and for shaping the organization's data framework. The role develops and promote the data practice in alignment with standards through collaboration and provides enterprise guidance on frameworks, patterns, platforms, and data flow from transactional/operational systems to data stores for operational and analytical use within WestJet's data landscape.Key deliverables include:Develops and maintains a stable, viable architecture and ensures consistency of design and adherence to standards across multiple projects or initiatives.Contributes to the development of company objectives and achieves goals in creative and effective ways within domain-specific technology areas.Applies advanced knowledge and is considered a top resource across the organization.Demonstrates expert knowledge in data and a strong understanding of adjacent technologies to develop pragmatic and creative solutions.Acts as a thought leader and is externally recognized as a top go-to individual.Translates highly complex requirements from business and technical teams into objectives, plans, specifications, resources, and long-term goals.Serves as an advisor to management from projects to strategy levels,



ensuring compliance and clear communication.Takes full ownership of tasks with accountability and transparency; independently determines methods and procedures.Guides and mentors colleagues at all levels, sharing experience and technical knowledge.Contributes to the development of department strategy, operational objectives, and significant matters.Builds and manages internal relationships among Digital teams, leaders, and the architecture community.anticipates business needs, secures resources, and leads initiatives to drive organizational change.Demonstrates exceptional creativity and innovation skills.Experience and qualifications:Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or Information Security and 5+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experienceDomain certification requiredDemonstrated leadership, mentorship, and technical guidanceExpert problem-solving and strong interpersonal and communication skillsIn-depth experience with tiered physical and logical data architectures and patternsExperience with streaming and event data and database technologiesStrong understanding of development architectures (e.G., API, web services)Knowledge of data privacy, cloud security, application security, platform security, and database security controlsHands-on experience with Big Data Platforms (e.G., Snowflake, Databricks, Hadoop)Experience with reporting, self-service analytics,



data warehousing or data martsUnderstanding of orchestration, ingestion, and transformation toolingFamiliar with governance processes, classifications, and toolingKnowledge of industry best practices and regulatory requirements (PCI, PIPEDA, GDPR, CCPA)Basic knowledge of network protocols and security controlsUnderstanding of strategic technical directions in middleware, CI/CD, testing, systems management, and data access layersGood knowledge of project management methodologies for delivering technical changeThe benefits of being a WestJetter:WestJet provides a competitive total rewards package.
