Your future starts here.PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:The Diesel Mechanic Apprentice performs the completion of preventative and scheduled maintenance on locomotives in a quick-paced, safety-focused environment. Working alongside qualified mechanics, the apprentice will complete inspections, repairs, and servicing while developing core technical skills related to diesel engines and mechanical systems.POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:Maintain, inspect, service, test and repairs all systems on locomotives, mobile equipment and vehicles used in plant, yard and road serviceDiagnose diesel engine malfunctions and make repairs within regulatory and company guidelinesComplete work in accordance with blueprints, schematic drawings and service manualsEvaluate of parts for reuse, repair or replacementModify and construct mechanical assembliesMaintain of low voltage repairs on locomotive electrical systemsService locomotive cabs which include cleaning cab walls, locomotive toilets, windows and floorsOperate equipment such as overhead or mobile cranes, forklifts and hand toolsPOSITION REQUIREMENTS:High school diploma or general equivalencyValid driver’s licenseMinimum 3 years’ working as a mechanic preferably on diesel enginesAvailable to work all types of shifts, including nights,
