This role is temporarily eligible for a pay premium above the posted salary range that is reassessed annually.Job DescriptionDepartment OverviewThe Canadian Personal Banking (CPB) Payments Technology team delivers and supports technology solutions enabling secure, reliable, innovative payment experiences for TD's Canadian Personal Banking customers. The Global Transfers Technology team is responsible for the delivery and ongoing evolution of TD's international remittance platform, enabling customers to send money securely from Canada to recipients in more than 100 countries worldwide.Job Accountabilities – What You'll DoEngineering LeadershipLead multiple Agile engineering teams responsible for design, development, testing, deployment, and support of payment platforms.Establish a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.Build, mentor, coach, and develop Engineering Managers, Technical Leads, and Software Engineers.Drive engineering best practices including code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and operational readiness.Foster a "build it, own it, support it" engineering mindset.Payments Platform DeliveryLead the delivery of Java-based payment orchestration solutions supporting domestic and international payment rails.Oversee the development of payment workflows, orchestration engines, API services, shared payment services, and event-driven architectures.Ensure solutions meet business objectives for transaction throughput, resiliency,



latency, availability, and regulatory compliance.Drive modernization initiatives leveraging microservices, APIs, cloud-native patterns, and event streaming technologies.Architecture & Technology StrategyPartner with Enterprise and Solution Architects to define target-state payment architectures.Influence technical direction and engineering standards across the Payments organization.Lead architectural reviews and technology decisions to ensure scalability, maintainability, and long-term sustainability.Champion engineering standards for resiliency, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.Reliability & Operational ExcellenceEnsure platforms meet high-availability requirements through resilient design patterns, circuit breakers, failover mechanisms, and proactive monitoring.Drive production stability by reducing incidents, improving recoverability, and enhancing observability.Establish SRE and DevOps practices focused on automation, reliability, and continuous improvement.Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans for critical production events.Stakeholder & Delivery ManagementCollaborate with Product Managers, Business Leaders, Architecture, Risk,



and Operations teams to define roadmaps and priorities.Manage large-scale technology initiatives from concept through delivery.Provide transparency on delivery commitments, risks, dependencies, and financial forecasts.Align engineering execution with organizational and strategic objectives.Where You'll WorkPrimarily onsite at a TD location for meetings, team events, and experiences. Hiring manager will provide additional details.Experience – Job Requirements – What You Need to Succeed10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years in engineering leadership roles.Proven experience leading large-scale enterprise payment systems or mission-critical transaction processing platforms.Strong background in Agile and Secure delivery methodologies.Experience managing multiple cross-functional engineering teams.Technical ExpertiseExtensive expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and enterprise application development.Deep understanding of payment orchestration, transaction lifecycle management, and event-driven architectures.Experience with:Microservices architectureREST APIsKafka or equivalent messaging platformsDistributed systemsRelational databases (Oracle)CI/CD pipelinesCloud platforms (Azure)Observability tools and application monitoringAccommodationYour accessibility is important to us.
