Become the driving legal force at the First Nations Financial Management Board, providing expert guidance as General Counsel in a versatile hybrid work model.

We are seeking a seasoned legal skilled with a minimum of 10 years’ experience and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD). You will address legal compliance while representing FMB in negotiations and legislative matters. This role promotes effective governance and supports the unique needs of First Nations, ensuring alignment with the First Nations Fiscal Management Act.

Key Responsibilities:
Deliver legal advice ensuring compliance and strategic direction
Manage legal documents, agreements, and risk assessments
Liaise with external counsel and regulatory bodies
Facilitate Board governance and meeting logistics
Monitor legislation affecting First Nations communities

Requirements:
LLB or JD and practicing membership required
10+ years of relevant legal experience
Solid understanding of Indigenous governance
Legislative drafting and ATIP knowledge preferred
Effective verbal and written communication skills

Support First Nations’ goals by legal guidance and governance at FMB.
