Nova Scotia Power is seeking an IT Co-op Student (Jr. Service Management Analyst) to join our IT Service Delivery team for the Fall term. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in IT Service Management while supporting key initiatives related to Hardware Asset Management (HAM), Software Asset Management (SAM), and Configuration Management.
You'll contribute to meaningful work, gain exposure to technology business operations and enterprise systems, and receive coaching and mentorship from experienced professionals who are invested in your growth and development.
What you’ll do:
As an IT Co-op Student, you'll play an active role in supporting IT Service Management processes and helping maintain accurate asset data and operational effectiveness across the organization.
During your work term, you will have the opportunity to:
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of IT Hardware Asset Management (HAM), Software Asset Management (SAM) and Configuration Management practices.
- Support the maintenance of the IT Asset repository in Service Now, including performing data analysis, generating reports, and handling administrative tasks.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve discrepancies, providing clear, concise descriptions of issues and resolutions.
- Contribute to identifying and supporting continuous improvement and process optimization efforts related to HAM, SAM and Config. Mgmt. practices.
- Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety regulations, ensuring personal safety and the safety of others in the workplace.
Who you are:
We're looking for a motivated student who is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and enjoys working with technology, data, and business processes. You will be a strong candidate if you:
- Are enrolled in an Information Management, Business Administration, Information Systems,
Information Technology, or related program.
- Possess strong analytical skills and a keen attention to detail.
- Are proficient with Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Have exposure to Service Now or other IT Service Management platforms through coursework, co-op placements, or employment (considered an asset).
- Have a proactive attitude toward learning and improving business processes.
- Have previous customer service experience and enjoy working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders (considered an asset).
- Have robust verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and concisely.
