Summary
The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Service at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust supports people living with MS across the local area, offering practical, clinical and emotional support throughout their journey. Our MS Team work closely with Neurology, Rehabilitation, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive joined-up, high-quality care. It'san exciting time to join us. MS treatments are rapidly evolving, and our service is expanding to reflect these advances.
We are looking to expand the service in response to increasing demand, while also developing our capacity to support the introduction and delivery of new therapeutic options. We are looking for a committed and motivated Band 7 Nurse to join our friendly MS team.
Significant post-registration experience and knowledge of MS and Neuroscience are essential, along with a willingness to learn and a positive, 'can-do' attitude. This role within a multi‑professional workplace will challenge you to innovate in your field, push forward, and act as a role model for high standards of care through clinical practice.
Independent prescribing is highly desirable for this role but is not essential, and candidates without a prescribing qualification are equally encouraged to apply.
- Deliver high-quality, patient‑centred care to individuals living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
- Run independent nurse‑led clinics focused on proactive support and self‑management.
- Work toprevent hospital admissions through early intervention, education, and ongoing monitoring.
- Contribute to the development and advancement ofthe MSSpecialist Nurse role within the service.
- Support theongoing growthand operational delivery of the MS Service at OUH
- Enhance the delivery and coordinationof MStreatment options, ensuring patients receivetimelyandappropriate therapies.
- Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary MS Team to improve service delivery and patient outcomes.
- Demonstrate strong motivation, enthusiasm, and commitment to continuous improvement in MS care.
- To promote clinical excellence in the management of Multiple Sclerosis as a specialist nurse and to be working autonomously.
- To be a resource for in‑depth knowledge of own specialist clinical area and actively disseminate relevant information through appropriate channels.
- to regularly support the infusion service with administration of MS infusion therapy
- To actively facilitate the delivery of expert specialised patient care based upon principles of evidence and best practice. This may be achieved either directly through personal contact or indirectly via supervision of practice.
- To provide information, advice and psychological support to patients, their families and health care professionals; liaising and referring on as necessary to the appropriate health care professional in hospital or the community.
