Lead Indigenous engagement initiatives at Aecon as the Indigenous Relations Manager for North projects. Foster relationships with Indigenous communities and enhance inclusive practices in infrastructure development.
In this senior management role, the Indigenous Relations Manager will report to the Vice-President of Indigenous Relations and play a pivotal role in aligning Aecon’s operations with Indigenous values. You will build and nurture partnerships, ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations and promoting economic opportunities for Indigenous individuals. Your expertise will be crucial in positioning Aecon as a leader in Indigenous relations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Cultivate relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations
• Advise on cultural, social, and regulatory matters
• Promote employment and training opportunities for Indigenous individuals
• Ensure equitable inclusion of Indigenous businesses in contracts
• Maintain documentation of engagement activities and outcomes
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Indigenous Studies or related field
• Experience working with Indigenous communities
• Robust understanding of Indigenous culture and governance
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Willingness to travel to remote sites
