We offer challenging and rewarding career opportunities, with room to grow, learn and excel.Job SummaryThe Damage Prevention and Safety Coordinator (DPC) is responsible for leading Clearway Construction’s pre-locate investigation program and ensuring all underground utilities and buried infrastructure are accurately identified, verified, and documented prior to any ground disturbance.This role is critical in protecting employees, the public, and third-party assets by ensuring no excavation or saw-cutting occurs without proper clearance.Reporting to the health and Safety Manager, the DPC also plays a key leadership role in fostering a proactive safety culture across field operations.This Is a Dual-role PositionPrimary: Damage prevention and ground-disturbance oversightSecondary: Safety Coordinator support (when no active ground disturbance work is underway)Location:BC / Vancouver Division.



Combination of field and office / trailer work; travel between multipleproject sites across the Lower Mainland.Hours of Operations:8:00 am to 5:00 pmAnnual Salary:$90,000-95,000 (Based on qualifications, experience and relevant skills)Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPre-Locate Investigation ProgramLead and manage the pre-locate investigation program across assigned projectsPlan Phase 1 damage-prevention setup, including scope, timelines, and required investigationsSupervise pre-locate crews and ensure quality and accuracy of fieldworkCoordinate utility locate requests (BC One Call) and liaise with utility owners and third partiesInformation Review & VerificationReview drawings, permits, utility records, and locate tickets before excavationValidate field markings against documentationIdentify discrepancies, missing data, or risks and ensure resolutionUtility Locate Binder ManagementMaintain the Utility Locate Binder as the single source of truthEnsure documentation is complete, current, and accessible to field teamsTrack expiries, renewals, daylighting results, and correspondencePre-Excavation ReviewLead pre-excavation meetings with crews and supervisorsCommunicate utility locations, risk zones, and excavation controlsDocument attendance, decisions, and outstanding actionsField Coordination & Saw-Cut ReviewReview saw-cut areas before executionCoordinate with project teams to integrate damage prevention into work plansConduct field checks to ensure compliance with locate dataSafety Leadership & TrainingPromote a solid safety culture across crewsDeliver toolbox talks and safety briefings on damage preventionProvide training on excavation safety, tolerance zones,



and safe practicesCollaborate with supervisors to position safety as a productivity enablerBC Division Safety Support(Performed only when no active ground disturbance work is underway)Site Safety InspectionsConduct audits and inspections across project sitesTrack and follow up on corrective actionsIncident ManagementSupport incident investigations and root-cause analysisAssist with WorkSafeBC reporting requirementsTrack trends and share lessons learnedSafety Program SupportMaintain compliance with COR and safety management systemsAssist with subcontractor safety prequalificationSupport internal and external auditsTraining & Emergency PreparednessDeliver site orientations and safety trainingMaintain training records and certificationsSupport emergency response planningRequiredOur ideal candidate:3+ years of experience in underground utility locating, damage prevention, or civil / heavy construction with direct exposure to ground-disturbance operations.Working knowledge of BC damage-prevention practices, BC 1 Call / BC One Call ticketing, and utility owner locate processes.Working knowledge of the BC Occupational Health & Safety Regulation and WorkSafeBC requirements.Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, as-builts, utility records, and site plans.Demonstrated understanding of excavation safety, tolerance zones, and safe hand-exposure / hydrovac methods.Experience conducting site safety inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations.Strong documentation discipline and the ability to compile and control a comprehensive record set (e.G., the Utility Locate Binder).Valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence and ability to travel to project sites across the Lower Mainland.PreferredFormal damage-prevention or utility-locating certification (e.G., ORCGA / Canadian Common Ground Alliance training, utility locator certification).Construction Safety#J-18808-Ljbffr
