Contribute to meaningful change as an Enhanced Harm Reduction Support Worker with AVI Health & Community Services in Nanaimo. This role involves providing essential clinical and outreach support to marginalized populations affected by drug use.
Your position will focus on the Enhanced Harm Reduction initiative’s objectives, including distributing safer drug use supplies and naloxone kits. You will provide overdose prevention training, supervise consumption, and offer peer support to individuals navigating their needs. Collaborate with the EHR team to ensure participants have access to appropriate resources and personalized care plans, creating a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide clinical support in various community settings • Distribute naloxone and educate on overdose response • Participate in regular team meetings and support sessions • Keep accurate records of interactions and services • Facilitate transportation for clients to care settings
Requirements: • Minimum two years of recruitment experience in harm reduction • Personal experience with substance use and addressing barriers • Robust communication and rapport-building skills • Leadership capabilities in team-based environments • Valid driver’s license and vehicle preferred
