3rd/4th Year Electrical Apprentice (309A) – UltraViolet Electric

Location: Ottawa and Clarence-Rockland, OntarioType: Full-time, PermanentPay: $27.60-32.90/hour based on apprenticeship level, experience, hours accumulated, and in-school training completed

About UltraViolet Electric

We’re a locally owned electrical contracting company with a small, dedicated team serving Ottawa, Clarence-Rockland and the surrounding areas. As our company grows quickly, we’re looking for an experienced electrical apprentice who wants to keep building their skills while working alongside licensed electricians and becoming an integral part of our team.

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, wants to learn, and understands that good electrical work is about more than getting the job done. Safety, customer service, attention to detail, and leaving a clean job site all matter to us.

Who We're Looking For

We’re looking for a 3rd or 4th year Electrician – Construction and Maintenance (309A) apprentice with solid hands-on residential experience and a good understanding of electrical installations, troubleshooting, and the Ontario Electrical Safety Code.

You should be comfortable completing many common electrical tasks under the direction and supervision of a licensed electrician while continuing to develop the skills needed to complete your apprenticeship.

Requirements

Essential:

- Approximately 3rd or 4th year/Level 3 or Level 4 apprentice, based on apprenticeship progress, hours, and schooling
- Previous hands-on residential electrical experience
- Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record
- Bilingual English/French
- Dependable transportation and ability to report to job sites throughout Clarence-Rockland and Ottawa
- Working at Heights certification from a Ministry of Labour-approved training provider
- WHMIS certification
- Strong understanding of electrical safety and safe work practices
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and basic electrical diagrams
- Comfortable using common electrical tools, testing equipment, and power tools
- Personal basic hand tools required
- Smartphone and internet access
- Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, climbing ladders, working at heights,



and working in different weather conditions
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team
- Strong customer service and communication skills

Strongly Preferred:

- Level 1 in-school training completed, with additional levels completed or upcoming
- Experience with residential service work and renovations
- Experience with panel changes and service upgrades
- Experience installing EV chargers
- Generator or GenerLink installation experience
- Hot tub, pool, or sauna electrical experience
- Experience with pot lights, lighting controls, dimmers, and smart-home electrical products
- Some commercial electrical experience
- Comfortable working at heights

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems
- Install wiring, devices, fixtures, lighting, receptacles, switches, and electrical equipment
- Assist with panel replacements, service upgrades, and electrical renovations
- Install and connect electrical equipment under the direction of a licensed electrician
- Run, secure, terminate, and identify wiring and cables
- Install conduit, boxes, raceways, supports, and related electrical components
- Use electrical testing equipment to assist with troubleshooting
- Read electrical drawings, plans, specifications, and job documentation
- Follow the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, applicable regulations, and company safety procedures
- Maintain accurate job records and documentation
- Keep tools, materials, vehicles, and work areas organized
- Maintain clean and safe job sites
- Work respectfully in customers' homes and businesses
- Communicate professionally with customers and other team members
- Continue developing the practical skills and competencies required to complete your 309A apprenticeship




- Work independently on appropriate tasks while following the direction and supervision of licensed electricians

Work Workplace

- Primarily residential with some minor commercial projects throughout Clarence-Rockland and Ottawa
- Indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Work in occupied homes, renovations, as well as recent construction projects
- Physical work including lifting, carrying materials, climbing ladders, standing for extended periods, and working at heights
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) required
