Job Profile The Administrative & Program Support Clerk A - Recreation Services provides front-line customer service and administrative support within recreation facilities such as pools and fitness centres. Reporting to a facility supervisor, this role supports daily operations through point-of-sale transactions, recreation program registrations, memberships, facility rentals, cash handling, schedule updates, and responding to public inquiries in person, by phone, and electronically. The position also assists with facility monitoring, incident response coordination, emergency communications, and may administer first aid, CPR, AED, or Naloxone as required.
This position supports a variety of recreation programs, special events, and administrative functions including records management, supply purchasing, rental coordination, payment processing, and customer account maintenance. The role works collaboratively with facility staff, community organizations, emergency responders, and the public, while utilizing various communication and administrative systems to ensure effective service delivery and safe facility operations.
As the Administrative & Program Support Clerk A - Recreation Services, you will:
- Serve as the first point of contact for building patrons.
- Facilitate customer services via the recreation management system and point-of-sales system.
- Complete and/or check forms, applications, and other documents for completeness and accuracy, process information from and to departmental databases and records, according to standard procedures, and compare with checklists to identify additional requirements.
- Conduct administrative work that supports facility or program operations, according to standard procedures.
- Establish and maintain a safe and healthy work environment and assist with emergency response.
Your Education And Qualifications Include
- Grade 12.
- 6 months' experience with point-of-sales systems.
- Basic knowledge of recreation and leisure services.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams, and ability to use software/applications to maintain databases, input and generate reports and maintain clear records (i.e. Computerized registration system, PeopleSoft, etc.)
- Ability to provide a safe environment for public and staff.
- Effective communication skills both oral and written in dealing with all levels of staff, community, media and the public in a respectful manner. Ability to communicate in other languages is considered an asset.
- Ability to establish and maintain respectful relationships.
